Live It Out

Nov 29, 2019

We live in a world where some people believe there is objective truth, others adhere to truth being subjective, and others still see truth as something that can never be truly known. The Bible is very clear on who is truth (John 14:6), what is truth (John 17:17), and how we are to share truth with others (Ephesians 4:25, 1 John 3:18). In our world today, there is so much confusion about what is truth, not to mention the presence of “fake news” and “alternative facts”, that there is a desperate need for the people of God to proclaim truth and live out truth each day.

However, there can be a stumbling block to proclaiming truth and living it out and it often stems from a lack in our study of truth, and our times of knowing Him who is truth: Jesus Christ. I can say this because I have seen it in my own life. The busyness of life often causes me to put the study of God’s Word in the farthest backseat in the bus. When succumbing to thoughts like, “There’s just too much to do today and too much to think about tomorrow,” I would soon find myself neglecting the study of God’s Word to the detriment of my spiritual walk. While it may be easy to push time with God to the back burner, the truth is that the enemy and this world are blazing ahead with half-truths and lies, deceiving many of us in the process.

It is my prayer that as men of God we will embrace the study of God’s Word as an important part of our overall spiritual armor (Ephesians 6:10-17) and daily preparation for the battles of this world. I have found that the best way to grow in my spiritual walk is to grow in my spiritual study. Together, let’s make it a priority for ourselves, for our families, and for those in our circle of influence.
